How I worked
at STAND

STAND is a module-based learning platform that helps kids start their first business, guided from idea to brand to launch, and selling real products at the end.

One of those steps is the logo generation flow, where kids create a logo for their company. Our head of engineering built the AI logo engine as a one-pager; I rebuilt the whole experience around it.

The redesign

The original was crammed with too many decisions on one page, so a kid aged 8 to 13 who'd never made a logo before felt overwhelmed and didn't know where to start. I broke the same engine into a guided flow.

Changes I made

  • Broke one dense page into 5 steps. Instead of one long form, it's 5 beat-screens, each asking a single decision at a time.
  • Added breadcrumbs. Makes it easy for young users to orient where they are, and change an answer.
  • Built the loading states from our own assets
  • Made the Brand Kit look like a real file. When they finish, everything they made shows up as a file they can open, a little magical moment.

The result: in beta, this flow had the highest completion rate of any module. Kids who'd freeze at the dense one-pager now finish on their own.
